International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer Unveils First-Ever Podcast

(Denver—April 10, 2019)—The IASLC is on the air – with its first-ever podcast “Lung Cancer Considered.”

Those interested in lung cancer research and clinical developments can now tune in to "Lung Cancer Considered" twice each month for the latest research and news on the study of lung cancer. "Lung Cancer Considered" will feature the researchers, healthcare professionals, patients and advocates who are making a difference in the advancement of the study and treatment of thoracic malignancies.

The IASLC chose noted oncologist H. Jack West, MD, director of medical oncology and operations at City of Hope, Duarte, Calif. to launch the podcast program as host. City of Hope is a leader in the research and treatment of cancer, diabetes and other serious diseases and an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

“Dr. West is active and engaged as an IASLC member and in both the medical and patient experiences with lung cancer, is savvy about technology and podcasting, and shares our goal of disseminating information about lung cancer,” said Dave Mesko, CEO of the IASLC. “Podcasting is an ideal format for dialogue about lung cancer research as it allows the researcher to go into greater detail about study design, outcomes and scientific nuance that our audience will appreciate.

“I’ve always respected the IASLC, its mission and the way the organization presents content to the oncology profession. I’m excited to work with them on the “Lung Cancer Considered” podcast,” said West.

Future episodes of “Lung Cancer Considered” focus on research at IASLC meetings, including the World Conference on Lung Cancer in Barcelona this September, as well as current and breaking news on topics related to lung cancer research.

West has extensive experience podcasting and creating audio content on lung cancer for his own website, West Wind Podcast and Beacon Medical Interchange, as well as for other organizations.
